Biography
Jonas Tschanz CV
The Swiss saxophonist, Jonas Tschanz, takes on a broad musical repertoire and explores classical music from different stylistic periods. He is particularly interested in contemporary music and has premiered numerous works.
As a passionate chamber musician, he performs internationally in various formations. His busy concert schedule has taken him all over Europe, to China, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Russia and the USA.
He is also an accredited member of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and a regular guest with various orchestras in Switzerland, playing under the baton of renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Paavo Järvi and Kent Nagano.
Solo appearances with various orchestras, numerous concert recordings for national radio stations and over 10 CD recordings round off his musical activities. The album “figurations” with the BlattWerk Quintett (2022) impressed critics internationally and was placed on the best list by the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”.
Jonas Tschanz has received several awards, is an ambassador for the instrument manufacturer Henri Selmer Paris and teaches at the Conservatoire de Fribourg.
